Spring has sprung, so refresh your stitching style with this "Birds, Bugs and Beasts" issue of Stitch! At this time of year, we all want something to help us feel a little brighter after a long, cold winter and we hope that getting stuck into one of the fabulous projects in this edition is just what you need!
Inside this issue you will find an array of animal-inspired pieces, including a gorgeous hare cushion and an adorable toy dog. While "bugs" do not sound immediately pleasing, you will be in awe of the beautiful projects that can be created from such simple creatures; just look at the incredible goldwork emerald dragonfly on page 45. If that's not your style you can spread your wings and have a go at a vivacious, multicoloured Indonesian songbird project, created with the beautiful Embroiderers' Guild collection of Aurifil threads. Each of these amazing projects are presented with step-by-step instructions, images and illustrations to help you along and there are templates on pages 61-65 to get you started. Elsewhere, read all about the amazing freehand embroiderer Chloe Giordano and her marvellous miniature embroidery. We're also giving you a basic guide to stumpwork tutorial, with an insight into the award-winning bespoke stumpwork artist Georgina Bellamy's incredible creations, alongside a sneak peak at the Embroiderers' Guild's own collection. We have some fantastic new regular features in this issue too, including your answers to our Facebook question and a shopping page sharing the latests embroidery accessories. We of course still have all of your stitch news, events, fantastic letters and a beautiful "Birds, Bugs and Beasts" themed gallery too!
We hope this issue puts a spring in your step; at least until our next edition (and our sensational seaside theme!).

Pocket Pet - a quick project for a fun present - a cute and quirky toy dog by Nancy Nicholson "Growing up with a mother who was always making enchanting things I was reminded of the little pocket toys she would make for me when I was very small, made from little scraps of fabric and thread, buttons and beads. They were a little secret comfort on the first day of school or if I was staying over at a friend's house; just anytime I felt a bit wobbly". All the templates you need for this project are in the magazine. See more of Nancy's work at www.nancynicholson.co.uk
