Legacies

It’s a wonderful way to be remembered by an organisation you care about.

It's a myth that only the rich and famous leave money to charity when they die. This couldn't be further from the truth. The reality is without the gifts left in Wills, many of the charities we know and support today wouldn't even exist

Legacies pledged today will ensure the Embroiderers’ Guild will be there in the future too.

How to leave a financial gift in your Will

There are two ways in which you can leave a financial legacy to the Embroiderers’ Guild;

Residuary bequest - A gift of the remainder of your estate after all other gifts have been made and debts have been paid. You may leave either the total of the remainder or a percentage of it.

Pecuniary bequest -Sometimes called a "general bequest." A gift of a set sum of money fixed at the time of writing your Will. The value of a pecuniary gift will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases.

How to amend an existing Will

If you have already made a Will, and you only want to make a change, you don’t need to write another Will, it’s very simple just to add an amendment to your existing Will. An amendment is known as a codicil.

Simply print and complete the codicil form below. Send one copy to your solicitor and another copy to the executor. You will need the following information;

Name of Charity: Embroiderers’ Guild

Registered Charity Number : 234239

Address of Charity: Embroiderers' Guild at Bucks County Museum, Church Street, Aylesbury, Bucks HP20 2QP
