Regional Days and AGMs in 2017

West Midlands Region

Regional Day & AGM will be hosted by South Cheshire branch. Venue: Stafford Beacon Conference Centre, Stafford Technology Park, Stafford ST18 0GB.

South East Region

Members' Exhibition "Connection of Threads" and the Denbies Panel at Denbies Wine Estates, London Road, Dorking RH5 6AA from 15th - 28th May

North East Region Regional Day to be held on Saturday 20th May 2017 at Emmanuel College, Gateshead commencing at 10am. Morning Speaker Bridget Guest on The Quaker Tapestry, Afternoon Speaker Lizzie Wall on Chickens and Other Layers. Traders' stalls, exhibition and competition entitled Contrasts

South East West Region

The South East West Regional Day will be held on 4th june 2017 at Everest Community Academy, Oxford Way, Basingstoke, RG24 9UP. Doors open 09.30 finishing 16.00

Basingstoke Branch are pleased to be hosting this year's Regional Day for the SEW Region. The theme for the day and for the competition which everyone is encouraged to enter, will be "The Life and Times of Jane Austen" to commemorate the 200th annniversary of her death. The speakers will be the renowned Karen Nichol and Annalie Talent from the Jane Austen Society. There will be numerous traders. The cost is £25 which includes lunch. Eastern Region

Calling all Programme Secretaries in the North East and Yorkshire & Humber Regions

Helen Barnes is an art and textiles teacher who has travelled extensively and she has developed a range of workshops which members of our North East and Yorkshire & Humber Regions may be interested in.

The workshops she is offering are:

Starting from Home

Embroider with the Brontes and Vintage (40s/50s) Embroidery

Around the World

Peruvian knot stitch and Vietnamese textiles

Contemporary Artwork

Rag paper collage and stiitch

Each workshop begins with a short talk on the subject including looking at examples of work from the chosen area. Demonstrations will be carried out to compliment individual help and tuition (maximum group size 15). The workshops can be adapted to half or full days and all abilities can be catered for.
