About the Event: Evening Meeting
Helen Melvin : My Felted Journey with Botanical Colours
Helen is a textile artist creating landscapes in felt, the fibres for which she colours herself in natural dyes mainly grown in her own working dye garden. She has evolved her own unique style which is created not only by the way she felts using fabrics and fibres but also by her unique use of sustainable dyes. Helen works with the ancient techniques of feltmaking and natural dyeing in a modern contemporary way which prioritises having a minimal impact on the environment.

Mary Bellamy - The wonder of Books (Lectures/Talks):
18-May-2020 to 18-May-2020

About the Event: Evening Meeting
4th Monday of the Month, September - May

Mary Bellamy - The Wonder of Books - my playful journey of discovery, Mixed Media Meanderings.
Marie's journey started when she fell in love with a leather bound book. Simple signatures held in with elastic cord, concertina books, meander books, star books, honeycomb books, flag books and lots of different types of stitched books - even a paper bag book! Then, of course, there is the decoration of the pages and covers - all the lovely materials and techniques to experiment with! From the simple to the elaborate, it's all good fun! And.... what about rescuing discarded books destined for landfill or burnt, they deserve better than that even tiny snippets of text can be incorporated into art. Yes, books, in all their guises are a wonderful playground!

In particular, he is interested in exploring the effects of layering drawing and stitching. The accumulation of lines results in abstract images which are open to interpretation from the viewer.

Christmas Luncheon (EG Branch Event):

About the Event: Christmas Luncheon
Guest Speaker - Jan Gardner - My Colours, My Vision
Jan was born and brought up in North Wales and spent much of her early years wandering the lanes and hills around her home. It was here that the light, space and colours that inhabit her work first became an influence. Drawing on these memories and experiences of special places and her later travels in Europe, Morocco and the U.S.A.; she crafts vivid and atmospheric works. Colours that fly in from emotion and passion, relaying a deep connection with the varied, differing landscapes from which they evolve.
