Find a Branch

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Embroiderers' Guild and joining one of our branches, some of the members of our Oxford branch share their thoughts on the benefits of being a member in this video.

If you wish to receive more information on a particular branch and/or get in contact with them please do not use the Contact form that is shown below a branch's information as this service is currently suspended.

Please email receptionist@embroiderersguild.com or jo@embroiderersguild.com to ask to get in touch with a branch. Kirsten and/or Jo will email the branch on your behalf and, with your permission, ask the branch to contact you directly.

Branch: Solihull

Introduction: Solihull Embroiderers’ Guild is open to anyone with an interest in embroidery and textiles – no experience is necessary!

Unfortunately because of the Covid19 pandemic we are currently unable to hold our usual meetings and workshops. We hope to resume meetings from February 2021 and until then will be keeping in touch as a group through social media.

But if you are thinking about joining us here is some information about our branch and what we normally do. At our monthly meetings we have a speaker from the embroidery/textile world, who usually brings along plenty of samples and pictures of their work to inspire us all. After the talk, there is time to view the work more closely and socialise.
In addition to the monthly meetings, we hold afternoon and evening stitching groups when we meet to chat, stitch and exchange ideas.
We have a programme of exciting workshops held on Saturdays from 10 -4pm. These are led either by a well known tutor or by one of our members and they are a wonderful opportunity to learn or develop a stitching technique.
We plunged into 2020 with a stitching evening to launch our next branch project. And in February and March we enjoyed fascinating talks by Ruth Lowe on Mary Quant's early career and Edwinna MacKinnon's colourful quilts.

Our programmes for 2020 are attached below - NB these activities are now cancelled . However they show the variety of topics and techniques planned for the year before Covid19 interrupted. Some of the talks /workshops may be rescheduled to next year.

A little more about us -
Solihull Embroiderers Guild are an active and social group.
In 2018 we held our Ruby Exhibition and Retrospective celebrating Solihull Embroiderers' 40th anniversary at the Core Theatre and Arts Complex, Solihull. We also celebrated our anniversary with a Ruby dinner.

Over 2019 we were busy with our Postcard Challenge - making textile postcards. We opened up the challenge to other groups and the public via facebook - and the world responded! We swapped cards with other stitchers in the UK and the USA, Canada, New Zealand and India. It was very exciting.
In between stitching we managed to get out too with an outing to the Handmade Oxford Contemporary Craft Fair and an evening dinner.

If you share our passion for stitch and creative textiles we would love you to come and join our branch. We join as Guild members and then pay a branch fee of £20 per year and small meeting fees to cover the costs of providing an extensive activity programme.
When we resume our meetings do come along and find out more - Visitors are always welcome and may attend up to 3 meetings at a charge of £6 per meeting.
