Branch: Solihull

Introduction: Solihull Embroiderers’ Guild is open to anyone with an interest in embroidery and textiles – no experience necessary!
We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm at the Solihull Methodist Church Hall, situated next to Solihull train station and local bus stops. Parking is available at the Church. Visitors are always welcome and may attend up to 3 meetings at a charge of £5 per meeting. At our monthly meetings we have a Speaker from the embroidery/textile world, who usually brings along plenty of samples and pictures of their work to inspire us all. After the talk, there is time to view the work more closely, have a cup of tea and socialise.
In addition to the monthly meetings, we hold regular afternoon and evening stitching groups, held at the Solihull Methodist Church Hall. Members meet to socialise, stitch and exchange ideas.
Saturday Workshops are held a number of times a year, either led by a well known tutor, or ‘Come and Sew’ days with member led demonstrations or when members can bring along their own projects to work on.

Our programmes for the 2018/19 year will be added to this page shortly.

Solihull Embroiderers recently hosted the Regional day for members of the West Midlands Embroiderers Guild to share a day of celebration of stitch and stitchers. We had an update on the Guild and a lecture by textile artist Jennifer Collier on "The Art of Paper and Stitch ". There were traders stalls, sales tables, raffle , tombola and displays of embroidery including work from the Guild's historic collection and competition entries on the theme of "All Creatures Great and Small".

Our next event will be our Ruby Exhibition and Retrospective celebrating Solihull Embroiderers' 40th anniversary. This will be at the Core Theatre and Arts Complex, Solihull B91 3RG. Free entry and open during library opening hours. Members of the branch will be in the gallery most days so why not come in and find out more about the branch.
