About the author

Rachel Mary Wright stitches her enduring fascination with stories. Not only the glamour and glories of queens and temples, but the quiet ones too: small finds whose excellence shows a dedication to craft, or the myriad labourers overlooked by history. Dreams of Amarna began with a book, Nefertiti Lived Here, a desire to respond to the stories it told, and a question – “What if I could stitch a place, a time, an idea, back into being?”. Stitch by stitch, brushstroke by brushstroke, the journey unfolded over two decades, developing new skills, new ideas, leading ever onward.
