A new exhibition of pieces from the Guild collection is now open at Discover Bucks Museum!
(Featured above: From the Collection – some of the hens from a Table decoration for Easter, made for the Needelwork development scheme in the Mid 20th century. The full piece includes eight small hens sitting on nests with a decorated box for storage.)
Sew Dainty celebrates the beauty and skill of producing textiles on a small-scale.
This exhibition explores how miniature stitches and tiny designs are used to express creativity in the form of embroidery. From a finely worked First World War silk postcard, an embroidered 1600s coif panel, which is alive with tiny caterpillars, to intricate tiny shoes and hens perched on nests, these objects will ask visitors to look closer and appreciate the extraordinary detail hidden in the smallest of things.

In addition to the announcement of this exciting new exhibition, the Embroiderers’ Guild Gallery has relocated downstairs into a new space just off the Discover Bucks galleries. This move is to allow more space to transform the upstairs galleries for the museum’s major upcoming exhibition, The SAXONS (opening 28 March 2026).
There are many more, wonderful items to see – why not drop by and visit if you can!
”Sew Dainty – the Art of Tiny Stitches” will be on display January 2026 – December 2026
