Getting to know more about Abigail Adkins – Guild Graduate in 2026
2026 Guild Graduate Alice Aphra studied at at Nottingham Trent University, gaining a degree in Textile Design

Born from my core values of circularity and design activism, my collection ‘Cycle of dismissal’ is focused on the gender health gap and issues surrounding Sexual Reproductive Health. Drawing on data from my cycle and the stories of women around me, I seek to raise awareness of the issues raised, help women feel seen and promote advocacy for their health.

My practice is materials and sustainability lead, with this project only utilising materials that’re at least one of the following; biodegradable, natural, repurposed or donated, decentring virgin and synthetic resources.

My colour scheme has informed my design practice, portraying an Interplay between natural materials and tones, alongside accents of synthetic colour and properties. This juxtaposition in qualities depicts the disruption to a women’s health and cycle.
