We are delighted to present our quarterly digital magazine The Creative Thread, conceived to bring you what lies at the heart of the Embroiderers’ Guild: collaborating, challenging yourself and championing the textile art we all love.
Whether you’re a hobbyist or professional artist, have just started sewing or have been stitching for years, our aim for The Creative Thread is to inspire, share skills, showcase, learn and lift up our wonderful community. Inside, you’ll find a balance of content from exclusive projects to artist insights, creative ideas to reviews and tutorials.
Since it’s Spring we explore how the natural world can spark ideas for embroidery:
- Our brilliant featured artist Zara Merrick shares her practice – and proves that florals for spring can indeed be groundbreaking!
- Talented artist and author Emillie Ferris shows us new ways to look at our surroundings.
- The lovely Lauren Reed has created an exclusive Swallow project for you to try
- We report back from our own beautiful Sew Dainty exhibition at Discover Bucks Museum
- And much more.

The Creative Thread is made for Embroiderers’ Guild members, so if you are a member it is included in your package. To find it make sure you’re logged in to your account, go to Textile Resources and on the dropdown menu click on The Creative Thread.
