We are delighted to present our quarterly digital magazine The Creative Thread, conceived to bring you what lies at the heart of the Embroiderers’ Guild: collaborating, challenging yourself and championing the textile art we all love.
Whether you’re a hobbyist or professional artist, have just started sewing or have been stitching for years, our aim for The Creative Thread is to inspire, share skills, showcase, learn and lift up our wonderful community. Inside, you’ll find a balance of content from exclusive projects to artist insights, creative ideas to reviews and tutorials.
The Summer issue of The Creative Thread is a celebration of our successes, inspirational ideas to slow down for the season and fresh thinking from some of our newest talents:
- We speak exclusively to our 2025-26 Scholars Lucy Bishop and Veva van der Wolf about their practice, using stitch for personal expression and the Guild’s invaluable support.
- The winners, highly commended and commended of the 2025-26 Members’ Challenge, with the theme FEAST, are proof that pushing creative boundaries keeps embroidery thriving.
- The overall winner, Nikki Parmenter, shares an exclusive Egyptian-inspired project alongside Amanda Smith’s beautiful coastal make for you to try.
- Award-winning textile artist Catherine Hill and emerging embroiderer Lottie Mayland swap advice, support and perspectives.
- And much more!
