Graduate Showcase selection and Retrospective Exhibition

Every year a committee made up of Guild Trustees and noted textile artists look forward to selecting a number of textile degree graduates who have specialised in embroidery to represent the very best at The Knitting and Stitching Shows at Alexandra Palace London (October 5th – 8th 2023) and Harrogate (November 16th-19th 2023). The selection committee attend the New Designers Show in Islington in June/July and also receive recommendations from Course Directors to put their best students forward for selection.

‘Immediate Live’ and The Embroiderers Guild have been committed to supporting and promoting graduates at the Knitting and Stitching Shows for 30 years and are proud to be showcasing and promoting these exceptional artist designers in helping them on their way to success. Graduates are provided with a stand free of charge to exhibit and sell their work, a year’s digital access to Embroidery magazine and archive, advice from experienced artists, and a grant from the Guild to help cover travel and other incidental costs.

We are always looking for new talent, artists who understand the place of embroidery in our culture and who are prepared to go the extra mile. Artists who have the ability to transfer their skills into new and exciting even unusual outcomes with a passion that is infectious.

This year we will be celebrating this milestone by organising a retrospective exhibition of a selection of these artists at the Knitting and Stitching Shows. The exhibition will show where they were with their work when they were first selected as a graduate and their journey to present day.
