We were present at the Knitting and Stitching Show 2024, 10-13 October 2024, Alexandra Palace, London and 21-24 November 2024, Harrogate. .
Thank you to all members, new members, and everyone who came to see us at this years K&SS!
It was so good to see you all and to hear your comments about what the EG has been up to over the last year and to see some of the fruits of our labour.
The Trustees and volunteers who worked tirelessly to prepare and manage our event there, were met with enthusiasm and praise
One of our main events was to showcase 33 items from our Collection at Discover Bucks Museum. Since last September we have been digitizing our main collection, which has been an utter joy. The Trustees and volunteers have been able to see and scrutinize items which we know members will be excited to see in reality or on ART UK when their job is finished. Large pieces have been difficult to exhibit over the years and having an exhibition at KSS gave us the opportunity to display a selection this Autumn
Items for ‘On a Grand Scale’ were selected, provided with hanging mechanisms, protection for transportation and labels with considerably more information than we have previously been able to provide. The majority of visitors, spanning all ages were fascinated by the whole exhibition. The variety of selected objects demonstrated the breadth of the collection and the importance of it. The plan to provide a pictorial library for future members and researchers to access was very much appreciated.
Unfortunately, we were not able to show ‘On a Grand Scale’ at Alexandra Palace but it was a great success at Harrogate, and we will be replacing our current exhibition with it at Discover Bucks Beryl Dean Gallery in February 2025
The Members Project and Members Challenge 2024 were equally successful with members of the public marvelling at the standard of work, variety of response, creativity and technical ability which our members displayed.
Following last year’s Graduate Showcase 30-year anniversary exhibition we selected 8 recent Graduates from across the UK. We continue to thank ‘Immediate Live. for all their support and congratulate the Graduates who gained so much from exhibiting their work and talking to members of the public. The feel-good factor coming from this very important initiative is obvious. These talented individuals are the burgeoning advocates of the subject we love so much. Giving them this opportunity thrills and excites us as it fulfils one of our educational aims but also we could see them involving themselves 100% in each event. It is a tribute to their commitment their family support and the education gained at their H.E colleges. Last but not least we presented a one stop shop which looked amazing and provided opportunities for purchasing subscriptions to EG and EMBROIDERY, and buying specially design kits, EG products and embroidery materials.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at next year’s shows!
