The parts of Katie’s graduate collection that she will exhibit at the Knitting and Stitching shows are samples she has collated from her final year of studying at Arts University Bournemouth. These include her two final collections; the first being based on the ballet ‘Swan Lake’ and the second being based on Lewis Carroll’s novels ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking-Glass’. These collections will showcase her skills in embroidery, both hand and digital.
Both of these collections hold a special place in Katie’s heart as they are based on topics from her personal life. ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Through the Looking-Glass’ were key books from her childhood. Having been a dancer from the age of four, she choose a well-recognised ballet to transform into a fashion collection.
