Joys of the Season to all who celebrate this time of year! Wrap up warm if you’re in the northern hemisphere – and don’t forget the sunscreen if you’re celebrating under southern skies!
The Trustees would like to thank our members, our affiliated groups, our subscribers and donors, and everyone who attended a Guild event in the past year, for all the support you’ve given us in 2024. We hope you are looking forward to what we have planned for 2025.
We celebrate the art of the stitch and we celebrate all those who create that art, from the tentative beginner to the professional artists who inspire our community. May all of you find a little time for yourself when you can sit, stitch, and relax amidst all the hustle and bustle at this time of year.
Our seasonal greetings card this year is based on a lovely panel of wool embroidery that we found lurking in our collection. It’s entitled ‘Winterscape’ and was made in the early 20th century by an artist named Evelyn Dakin. It’s one of the many pieces from the collection that will shortly be available to view on the ART UK website. So if you’d like to see the stitching up close and in detail, look for it there in 2025.
We wish you all the best for the holidays. May this time bring family and friends together, supply good things to eat, and provide entertainment for the heart and the soul.
The Trustees, our contractors and our volunteers will be taking time off over the festive period. The Guild will close its doors on the 20th of December and open them again on the 6th of January. We’ll see you all in 2025!
