Winners of the Brother Machine Embroidery Competition

Embroidery Magazine and Brother (Sewing Machines) are delighted to announce the winners of our ‘Machine Made’ competition – The Brother Creative Machine Embroidery Challenge. The Jury met last week to consider the extremely high-quality entries and eventually decided that the winners are Hannah Glossop and Alyssa Robinson. The Jury would like to thank all those that entered and look forward to working with Hannah and Alyssa over the coming months as they get to grips with the machines and no doubt produce some stunning work. You will be able to track their progress in the magazine and on social media.

The winners are:

Hannah Glossop

Hannah’s artistic style is to throw everything at it. “Make it bold, bright and fun”. She loves to incorporate a range of techniques into her work, to make compelling and unique designs, combining fabric manipulation techniques, digital embroidery, hand embroidery and beading.

“I am beyond excited to have been given this wonderful opportunity. I can’t wait to get started experimenting and see what the machine can do. A huge thank you to the Embroiderers Guild and Brother for this amazing opportunity!”

Alyssa Robinson

Having experimented with a wide range of techniques over the years, Alyssa finally admitted to herself that what she really, really enjoys is free-motion embroidery. “I create detailed machine embroidered pictures, confident in my use of colour and texture within my work – both representational and abstract”.

Oh, wow!  That’s amazing!  I’m so thrilled to have been selected. It will be so exciting to have a chance to use the Brother machine; I’ve never had a chance to try anything like this before, it’ll be great to have the time to really experiment with it and find out how it might fit in with my current practice.  I’m really looking forward to putting it through its paces and learning some new skills myself.  Thank you so much for choosing me – I can’t wait to get started.

Alyssa Robinson

We’re looking forward to seeing what they produce!
