The Knitting and Stitching Show is taking place on 17th-20th of November (In Harrogate).
Our exhibitions at Alexandra Palace in October were much admired – items from the collection illustrated the journey of embroidery and textile art in the UK over the last ninety years or so, our Members’ Challenge was ‘My Lockdown Year’, and the Guild project was ‘Collections’.
At the end of the show all the pieces were carefully taken down, packed up, and shipped north, ready for the Harrogate show in November. We are looking forward to seeing and talking to members and all the other visitors who attend over the coming four days. Anthea Godfrey, our Artistic Director, will be on hand on our exhibition stand to answer questions and tell you about the pieces on display.
Our other stand will again feature EMBROIDERY Magazine. There will be an opportunity to buy and/or subscribe to one of the best textile art magazines which, this year, is 90 years old. Your subscription can include access to our digital archive, which contains every issue of Embroidery to date along with the full run of EMBROIDERESS. Our limited-edition canvas project bags and tea-towels featuring specially printed with covers from Embroideress magazine were snapped up in London. Don’t miss the chance to buy one for yourself – and if you can’t bear the thought of using our lovely tea towels to dry dishes, why not buy one to frame, or to stitch on!
If you are interested in buying interesting things for your own work you will find many exciting things to buy including threads, inspiration packs and small items of equipment.
One of the Guild’s aims is to support and promote embroidery and textile artists. We will be hosting a different textile artist each day on our stand, showing examples of their work and signing their recent books.
Over the last 30 years the Embroiderers’ Guild and The Knitting and Stitching Show organisers have selected the very best Embroidery Graduates nationally and showcased them for the wider public to see. This year is no exception. The current work of graduates from 2022 will also be with us, highlighting their talent and giving you an opportunity to have a conversation with them about their experiences at university and their aspirations for the future.
